Double stabbing on Stratford Road, Sparkhill - road closures in place as police investigate

Two men who were injured on Stratford Road, Sparkhill in Birmingham were taken to hospital - roads are closed this morning (Wednesday, July 28)

Two men were taken to hospital with stab wounds following disorder on the Stratford Road Sparkhill, Birmingham last night (Wednesday, June 27).

The incident took place at around 8pm last night when disorder broke out. The Stratford Road is closed near to Hillfield Road as an investigation was launched by West Midlands Police.

The incident followed disorder at Alum Rock Road earlier yesterday. In that incident four men were injured as disorder broke out around 12.40pm. There was major disruption on A38M, Sparkhill, Sparkbrook, Small Heath and Alum Rock. These roads have since reopened.

Last night police said: “We’ve closed part of the Stratford Road in #Sparkhill#Birmingham after were called to a report of a disorder shortly after 8pm. The Stratford Road is currently closed near to Hillfield Road after two men were taken to hospital with stab injuries.” We will bring you more updates as we get them.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called just after 8pm to reports of a stabbing at Sparkhill Park on Stratford Road in Springfield and sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic to the scene.

“On arrival, crews discovered two men with serious injuries. Both received treatment from medical staff before being conveyed on blue lights to hospital for further treatment; the critical care paramedic travelled on board one of the ambulances to provide continued treatment to one of the patients en route to hospital.”

West Midlands Police had commented on the Alum Rock incident previously: “We are currently at Alum Rock Road, near the junction of Pelham Road, following a disorder involving a number of people with weapons at around 12.40pm. We understand four men were injured but no one is believed to be in a life-threatening condition.”
