Police was called to Shard End, Birmingham where a man was found deceased. A police cordon was set up on Heath Way in Shard End, Birmingham after the incident was reported.
The incident place yesterday (Wednesday, March 15) afternoon. West Midlands Ambulance Service also responded to the incident. Witnesses said the victim, aged in his 50s, was attacked with a hammer or another weapon outside the shops.

A large number of police and paramedics descended on the scene where a blue tent has since been erected. One onlooker, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “A 50-year-old bloke has been attacked with a hammer or something similar for his Rolex.
“It was crazy, there were police helicopters overhead and dozens of police and ambulances. All this was happening at the end of the school day. There were kids around, its terrible. A blue ten has since been set up. It doesn’t look good.”
West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 2.55pm to an incident on Heath Way in Shard End, Birmingham. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midland Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.

“Upon arrival we found a man in a critical condition. Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support to him. Unfortunately, it became clear that nothing more could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased.”
West Midlands Police said: “We’ve started a murder investigation after a man sustained fatal head injuries in Birmingham. We were called after a man was found seriously injured after being attacked outside shops in Heath Way, Shard End, just after 2.50pm yesterday (15 March).
“The man was sadly confirmed dead shortly afterwards and his family have been informed. We’ll be supporting them as much as we can at this deeply devastating time.

“We understand he may have been the victim of robbery but we’re continuing to keep an open mind around the motive for the attack. A cordon remains in place today while we carry out extensive enquiries to establish who was responsible.
“We’ll have an increased policing presence in the area as we review all available CCTV and speak to as many people as possible to assist our investigation. We understand the concerns this will have in the community.”
