Man due in court for charged with grievous bodily harm in Birmingham

West Midlands Police has charged a man with two counts of assault and possession of drugs in Birmingham.

The force took action after a man in his 50s was taken to hospital with a head injury following an assault on Tile Cross Road in Shard End on Wednesday (May 24), and a police officer treated for a hand injury.

A 24-year-old man will appear in court after being charged with grievous bodily harm, assault on an emergency worker and possession of a Class A drug.

He was remanded into custody for trial at Birmingham Crown Court starting 23 June.
