Major travel disruption on A38M Aston Expressway after road traffic collisions near Birmingham city centre

There are major traffic delays heading into Birmingham city centre on the A38M Aston Expressway near Dartmouth Circus in this morning (Thursday, September 14). Traffic delays can be seen all the way back through Lancaster Circus after road traffic collisions involving seven cars.

West Midlands Roads said two separate road traffic collision incidents have occurred on the A38 Aston Expressway northbound - one just prior to and one just after Dartmouth Circus. One lane has been closed and motorists have been asked to allow extra time and consider alternative routes.

There were reports of congestion tot he end of Queensway tunnel adn back to M6 Junciton 6 (Spaghettin Junction, with further queus on the M6 to Junction 5 Castle Bromwich Northbound and after Junction 7 Great Barr Southbound.

WMRoads has since reported that the road traffic collisions have cleared.

West Midlands Ambulance said: “A passingby ambulance crew stopped to assist at a road traffic collision involving two cars on the A38M, Birmingham at 06.43am. A woman who was a passenger in one of the cars was assessed and had sustained injuries not believed to be serious. She received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to City Hospital for further assessment. No further patients required treatment.”
