Michelin Guide 2023 is updated monthly and a restaurant near Birmingham has joined the prestigious list. Chef Matt Cheal’s stylish Cheal’s in Knowle, Solihull joined the entries for August. It has been lauded for its “deep understanding of flavour and balance”.
Owner and chef Cheal opened the restaurant in Knowle only six months ago after closing down his restaurant in Henley-in-Arden after seven years.
Chef Glynn Purnell’s Plates by Purnells was added to the guide earlier this year. Just few doors down from his Michelin starred Purnell’s - this tapas restaurant has come to be known for its small bites and great drinks list. Meanwhile, Carters of Moseley - another Michelin starred restaurant - has moved away from Birmingham. Last year, Black and Green in Barnt Green made it to the list just three months after opening.
There are six Michelin star restaurants in Birmingham and Solihull and they all have one star each. The Guide awards up to three Michelin stars to amazing restaurants.
Here is every restaurant in and around Birmingham to make the Michelin Guide for 2023:
