A pub in Birmingham urged one of their customers to get in touch after staff charged him more than £76 for a £6.80 round.

The pub-goer was at the Post Office Vaults in the city centre on Saturday (May 20), when he was accidently charged £76.80 for a £6.80 round after paying on card. A member of staff at the pub appealed on social media for the customer to get in touch so they could reimburse him for the payment.

The independent pub is located in the heart of Brum on New Street, and has been in business since 2011. The pub serves 365 different beers and is also very popular - it has an impressive 4.4 rating out of 5 on Google reviews from 1,755 reviews.

A post on the Post Office Vaults Twitter page, read: “Is this you or do this recognise this person? A member of my staff accidentally charged you £76.80 for your £6.80 round yesterday. Beer prices have increased recently but that’s crazy. If you come in with the card you used we will refund you and get you a beer on me as an apology.”

A member of staff at the pub later announced that the man was found and was paid what he was owed. A tweet on the pub’s account, read: “We’ve located the gentleman thank you guys and it’s all sorted. Thank you for your help finding him.” Some people praised the pub for making sure they got in touch with the man on social media.

One Twitter user replied to the post, saying: “This is top quality customer service. Respect.” Another joked that £6.80 seemed a good price for a round of drinks, writing: “I‘m as shocked with a round costing £6.80?”
