The demonstrators also chanted “Free Palestine” during the event.
The protest took place on the city’s High Street three weeks after Hamas launched an attack that killed 1,400 people. More than 8,000 people have been killed in the territory since then, according to Gaza’s Hamas-run heath ministry.
Israeli warplanes carried out air strikes early on Sunday near Gaza’s largest hospital - which is packed with patients and Palestinians seeking shelter.
