Noisy neighbours, we’ve all had one - but some streets in Birmingham are much worse than others - with that in mind we asked Birmingham City Council for information on the streets in the city with the most noise complaints.
BirminghamWorld submitted a Freedom of Information request for street noise complaints in the city. The council provided data on which streets which received the most noise complaints in 2022. These most complained about noises in Birmingham last year were: amplified noise, commercial noise, and animal noise.
Amplified noise means noise from TV, music, Radio, etc. Examples of commercial noise include noise from work, such as machinery noise, fan noises, and vehicle movements. The complaints also included alarm noise, construction noise and mechanical noise.
So, these are the streets across the city with the most noise complaints in 2022, ranked in order from the most complained to the least.

1. Hall Street, Hockley
Hall Street is the noisiest street in Birmingham. The city council received the most noise complaints from Hall Street in 2022. The most complaints were for amplified noise | Google

2. Temple Street, city centre
The council received the second most noise complaints in 2022 from Temple Street. Busker noise, and commercial noise complaints were all made | Google

3. Cromwell Lane, Northfield
The council received the third most noise complaints in 2022 from Cromwell Lane. Mechanical noise, amplified noise, and animal noise complaints were all made | Google

4. Alwold Road, Harborne
The council received the fourth most noise complaints in 2022 from Alwold Road. Mechanical noise, amplified noise, and animal noise complaints were all made | Google
