West Midlands Police are investigating another incident on Stratford Road that took place just days later

A man has been charged after a shop worker was threatened with a hammer on Stratford Road, Birmingham on September 26.

Rafee Rehmi, 25, was charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon. He appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on October 10 and was remanded in custody.

West Midlands Police’s investigations continue into a separate incident at a different store that happened on October 3 where shots were fired at a shop on Stratford Road.

West Midlands Police said: “At this stage we do not know if the incidents are linked, but we are keeping an open mind as our investigation progresses. We know that people who live, visit or work in the area will be understandably shocked and upset by what has happened and our investigation is ongoing.

“We have increased our policing presence in the area and officers will be available if you need any further information or reassurance.”

West Midlands Police added: “We are still appealing for information and anyone who has CCTV, ring doorbell or dashcam footage that could help the investigation is urged to upload their footage through our online portal Public Portal (mipp.police.uk). Alternatively people can leave information by calling us on 101 or contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting log 303 3/10/23.”
