The charges relate to an incident in Hednesford in February this year, when Hancox assaulted his ex-partner at her home.

During the incident, a man who attempted to intervene was stabbed in the chest, while another man was also assaulted.

Hancox has been remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced on Wednesday, October 28.

Detective Constable Reece Hingley, from CID, said: “This is another example of how, as a force, we are tackling violence against women, domestic abuse and serious violent offences.

“The evidence against Hancox was overwhelming and led to his eventual guilty plea.

“Domestic violence is an incredibly damaging crime, both physically and emotionally and I'm pleased we were able to build all the evidence needed in this case to make sure another perpetrator in our county is being bought to justice.”

Staffordshire Police urged anyone experiencing domestic abuse who wants to speak to specialist officers in confidence to call 101 or use the force's Live Chat service.
