From Dragon dances to musicians, art displays and street food, the streets around Southside in Birmingham city centre were buzzing with excitement for Lunar New Year 2024.

The Year of the Dragon was welcomed in style by Brummies from across the city who joined in the celebrations across Chinatown and at Birmingham Hippodrome.

MasterChef winner Dan Lee cooked up a storm along with other vendors and restaurants in the area and there were fantastic traditional performances throughout the day.

Organised by the Chinese Festival Committee Birmingham, a spokesperson said: “It has been a tremendous success, we will look to expand next year. Thank you everyone that came and enjoyed the festivities and a big thank you to all our sponsors and the Hippodrome crew. It was far busier than we expected, that's a credit to you all. Have a safe journey home and see you next year. Kung Hei Fat Choy.”
