Hide AdLocated on 25/29 Alcester Road South, the venue was home to a food hall for a few months and the Wetherspoons pub Pear Tree for 20 years prior to that. The property went up on sale in January 2023 but it was announced in summer 2023 that an independent food hall would take it up.
Pear Tree ran for 20 years before calling last orders in October 2021 while District Market Place opened on July 21, 2023 and closed less than two months later.
The independent food hall had boasted of being a family-friendly and pet-friendly venue where live music gigs would be hosted and would have a variety of of street food options like pizzas, burgers, Asian and Turkish food.
In the listing, AMT Commercial said: “The property is suitable for many uses including bar, restaurant, retail etc -subject to any planning and licence requirements. The premises have good loading facilities at the side, together with limited car parking, approached via Drayton Road.”
