Inside the new pizzeria serving 24 carat gold toppings - but no alcohol - in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham

A new Italian pizzeria and pasta trattoria with a mediterranean ambience is opening the doors in the Jewellery Quarter - serving 24 carat gold toppings, but no alcohol

The Jewellery Quarter is about to welcome a new restaurant - which serves 24 carat gold leaf toppings.

We got a sneak peek inside Paradiso ahead of its opening on July 27 at 9am and discovered the Italian pizzeria and pasta trattoria with a real mediterranean ambience.

It will be the fourth Paradiso in the West Midlands, with other sites in Quinton, Bromsgrove, and Hall Green. The menu is inspired from the Amalfi-coast but what sets it apart is that they won’t serve any alcohol and diners are not invited to bring their own.

Their range of pizzas include the ‘Birmingham Star’ — a truly luxurious treat with yellow tomato confit, grilled chicken and Italian beef pancetta, accompanied by fresh hot chillies, mozzarella and parmigiano, topped with homemade cream beetroot and 24 carat gold leaf. For pasta-lovers, there’s an abundance of choice, with everything from classic Carbonara to Italian favourite Olio Aglio.

The 60-cover restaurant, which created 25 jobs, gives off a Mediterranean feel where you can see the pizzaiolos making the authentic Italian food in the open kitchen.

Commenting on the launch, Paradiso Regional Operations Manager Salim Ahmed said: “We are excited to join the Jewellery Quarter community. Here at Paradiso, we think people should be able to savour amazing flavours of the idyllic Amalfi coast on their gastronomic journey with us. We complement our gorgeous food with a range of delicious drinks that will make sure you can remember your visit with pleasure, as all our drinks are alcohol-free as we want to provide a healthier and more mindful experience.”

There will be 25% off food during the first week (July 27 to August 2), followed by 15% off throughout the second week (August 3 to 9). For more details, visit Paradiso’s website. Here are six photos of the interiors of the latest Paradiso restaurant:
