Previously, Birmingham had only one Waterstones store, which is located on Birmingham High Street.

In the past year, Harborne High Street has had several new openings like Raja Monkey, Rudy’s Pizza, O’Neils, and a refreshed Henry Wong, and closings. The latest to close down was the Bun and Barrel after one of the founders withdrew from the business due to illness.

Currently, Harborne High Street has The Works, WH Smith, and several charity shops where residents can grab new and old books. The addition of the Waterstones is expected to bring famous authors for events - which could help increase footfall in the area.
