The nights are getting darker quicker than just a few weeks ago and autumn is in the air with its crispy bite. It is expected that diners would shy away from outdoor seating but a huge new winter pergola is set to land in Birmingham next month, complete with a roaring fire, twinkling fairy lights and faux fur throws creating a cosy atmosphere.

Award-winning bar The Canal House, on Bridge Street, revealed an artist’s impression of how its brand-new structure, named ‘The Pergola’, will look. The venue with its mouth-watering menu and limited-edition winter-warmer cocktails will make for the perfect hideaway for locals during the colder months.

The new and massive wooden structure with a roof and windows covers up the outdoor garden at the Canal House turning it into a comfy venue and allowing guests to soak up the view of the canal. The Pergola will open on October 9.

This is not the first time the Canal House has set up a seasonal drinking, dining and partying destination in the city. Last year, the stunning outdoor terrace on Bridge Street was called The Watershed and was an urban utopia of firepits and good times alongside winter cocktails, hot chocolate, mulled wine and warming food, just in time for the chilly weather.

This year, in the new lodge, guests can expect to dine on some seriously good grub from the venue’s menu including stacked burgers, hot wings and hanging kebabs as well as classics like fish and chips, ribeye steak and chicken katsu curry.

A selection of seasonal cocktails and festive tipples will also be on offer. The Canal House and The Pergola are open Monday to Sunday from 12 noon until late throughout the winter. For more information, you can visit the Canal House website.
