West Midlands Police said: “We’re urging anyone with information about these car thefts to please get in touch with us on 101 or via Live Chat. If a burglary is in progress, always call 999. Vehicle crime is a top priority for the force and we remain committed to tackling this crime.”

Crime prevention advice from West Midlands Police to protect your car and keep keys safe:

  • If you have a garage it is better to keep your car inside it, locked and secure
  • If you have gates securing your driveway area make sure you keep them closed and locked
  • Think about where you keep your car keys at home. Do not keep them within reach of the letterbox or in an area that is visible to a prospective thief.
  • Ensure your home is secure by locking your door and closing windows.
  • If your car has a ‘keyless’ system, keep keys far away from the car to disrupt communication range.
  • Keep the key in a shielded RFID wallet or pouch and use a steering wheel lock for extra protection.
