Between July 2022 and February 2023 officers from the Birmingham Serious and Organised Crime Team investigated and linked 44 offences where thieves broke into houses to locate the car keys before stealing their cars. Thieves targeted houses in Birmingham, Solihull and Warwickshire for high value vehicles like BMW, Audi and Mercedes cars.

Detective Inspector Matt Underwood, from Birmingham’s Serious and Organised Crime Team said: "We will continue to investigate this case and have already linked 44 crimes.

“This has been a complex investigation which we continue to unravel. We believe this to be an organised crime on a significant scale, with thieves targeting properties across the region for high value vehicles. This isn’t the end of our investigation as we continue to gather evidence.”
