Birmingham police made the discovery earlier this week

Police have discovered a cannabis factory inside a former nightclub in Birmingham city centre.

Officers discovered the well hidden cannabis plants pictured, inside the former nightclub adjoining a fully functional restaurant in the city centre.

They seized a total of 973 plants. A statement from the force, read: "Officers discovered this well hidden cannabis factory inside a fully functional restaurant in Birmingham City Centre.

"We attended to seize all 973 plants and put all equipment beyond use."

Nobody was at the location when police found the factory, but enquiries are ongoing according to the force.
