Award-winning Pan-Asian restaurant, Banana Tree, has announced it will be opening a new restaurant at Bullring & Grand Central in Birmingham city centre on Monday, August 28 - and will celebrate by giving away 1,000 free katsu curries.

The brand-new restaurant, which is located on St Martin’s Walk where Rouge was previously situated, will offer 118 covers and create 10 new jobs - as well as providing new roles for the team which was previously in the unit.

Banana Tree’s signature katsu curry can include either crispy panko-coated chicken or vegan bites served with Banana Tree’s katsu curry sauce, Japanese rice and edamame. To redeem a free curry the restaurant is asking guests to fill out a form which you can find further down this story along with the full terms and conditions.

In addition to the free katsu offer at the Bullring, customers will also be given a £10 welcome voucher to spend on their next visit to Banana Tree.

The Big Table Group’s Banana Tree handpicks the best dishes from Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia to feature on its menu including soups and salads, wok-tossed noodles, stir fries and curries, as well as South-East Asia-inspired desserts and cocktails, and more than 40% of Banana Tree’s menu is plant-based.

How do I sign up for a free katsu curry from Banana Tree at the Bullring?

To redeem a free curry, guests can visit here: Banana Tree free Katsu Curry - and fill in the form to book their table. Once completed, guests will be sent an email to complete their booking, which must be done 24 hours in advance of their visit. Please note the Terms & Conditions:

  • Each person must order a minimum of 1 side and 1 drink (soft drink or alcoholic drinks but excluding tap water) to qualify for the free main meal.
  • Your free katsu will be deducted from your bill. All cocktails are 2-4-1 but this is unaffected by this promotion.
  • Service charge is taken from the full bill, pre-discount (including your free katsu). You are welcome to upgrade your rice, but this will be charged to your bill.
  • 1 free katsu or meat-free katsu per person when booking in advance via the provided link.
  • Generic bookings do not qualify for a free katsu.
  • Tables of up to 4, minimum 2 covers. Can not be used more than once (we’ll spot your address if you try) and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer, promo, discount, voucher or set menu, including lunch, kids or £10 welcome voucher.
