Birmingham is one of the most popular cities in the UK, which is why thousands of people relocate here every year.
Thanks to career opportunities, a brilliant and vibrant city centre, and top universities, Brum is an appealing location for many.
This means that the city is continually evolving with new people, new culture and new sounds. But the Brummie accent is still thriving across the city.
Residents in the West Midlands grew up in school hearing it, and it was made popular worldwide thanks to the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, UB40, Jasper Carrott and the Peaky Blinders series.
Yes, the Birmingham accent may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s one of the most distinctive dialects in the UK, and Brummies are proud of their defining accent.
But, of course, not everyone in the city has a Birmingham accent. So where exactly are you most likely to hear a classic Brummie accent?
