Birmingham’s uber glamorous sky bar and restaurant, Orelle, is hosting a seven course dinner in the dark

Orelle restaurant, located on the top floor of 103 Colmore Row, has announced it is holding a new dining experience called the ‘Blackout Dinner’. 

The exclusive one off event is set to provide diners with a sensory journey through taste, touch and sound. The restaurant is preparing to welcome guests to the rooftop venue with amazing cocktails and delicious dinners - and thousands of candles.

It’s being described as ‘an immersive event’. Executive Chef, Chris Emery said “At Orelle, we continuously strive to redefine dining experiences, and our ‘Blackout Dinner’ in collaboration with Sauvelle Vodka, allows us to push the boundaries with not only our food and drink menu but also our beautiful restaurant and views. We’re looking forward to bringing an evening that not only delights the palette but takes our guests on a sensory adventure!”

The dinner, held in collaboration with Sauvelle Vodka on Thursday, January 25. A spokesperson for Orelle added: “Guests will be welcomed to the rooftop restaurant with a bespoke Sauvelle Vodka cocktail, then plunged into complete darkness, with thousands of candles and the surrounding Birmingham landscape as the only source of light. Once seated, the immersive event will continue, through a seven course menu created by Executive Chef, Chris Emery.

Here’s the seven course Orelle Blackout Dinner sample menu

  • Chapter I - Beetroot Tart & Salmon Croustade 
  • Chapter II - Salt baked carrot, golden raisin, Jerusalem artichoke, parmesan tuille 
  • Chapter III - Seared Cornish turbot, mussel, bbq fennel, caviar and champagne beurre blanc 
  • Chapter IV - Lake district beef fillet, confit garlic, miso carrot, shallot 
  • Pre Dessert - Citrus Yoghurt & Sorbet 
  • Dessert - 66% dark chocolate, pistachio cremeaux, miso ice cream 
  • Petit fours
