It’s a little frustrating having to travel to Weston-super-Mare every year to enjoy the beach.

Weston is Birmingham’s closest seaside town, but even that’s over two hours away. But fear not! Fortunately, the Digbeth Funair will be returning this year to bring its very own beach back to Birmingham so Brummies can enjoy the beach without having to travel far.

A number of rides and entertainment activities will be arriving in Digbeth for the event this summer. Here’s what we know about the event so far.

When and where does the Birmingham Beach take place?

The Birmingham Beach and Digbeth Funfair will take place at the Smithfield Festival Site on Pershore Street in 2023. The fair is set to be open for business from noon on 14 July until 29 August, lasting the duration of the school holidays.

There will be a number of water slides and water pools - which have been transported from Italy - and a proper sandy beach for families to enjoy - with 50 tonnes of sand been shipped onto the site. There will also be classic theme park rides, such as bumper cars, waltzers, rickety mini-roller coasters, as well as deckchairs and ice cream and a bar to enjoy the beach.

A fully stocked bar will be servicng everything from cold beers on tap, cocktails, mocktails and other delicous soft drinks. All we need now is some good weather.
