Police name second man charged with Bartley Green shooting in Birmingham

Birmingham police have charged a second man in connection with a shooting in Bartley Green as they recovered a gun following a firearms warrant. Officers said that Kayne Davis, aged 25, from Hockley, has been charged with wounding, attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of a firearm. He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Saturday (February 17) for a first hearing and was remanded into custody to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on March 5. It follows an incident on Bottetourt Road in the afternoon of February 3 where a man was shot. Thankfully his injuries were not life-threatening.

A 21-year-old man has also been charged with wounding, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and attempted robbery. He appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on February 6 and was also remanded to appear before Birmingham Crown Court on March 5.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “Our enquiries into the shooting continue and we’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and has dash cam footage. We’re particularly interested in any footage from Bottetourt Road and Castle Square on February 3 between 1pm and 1.30pm.
