A Birmingham balti takeaway scoops a top award at a prestigious ceremony celebrating Britain’s best curries

Congratulations to the Birmingham and West Midlands winners of the Euro Asia Curry Awards.
Our region had three winners in key categories at the annual event which recognises the top curry houses in the UK and the hardworking talented people behind them.

Hide AdStreetly Balti in Chester Road, Sutton Coldfield won Best Indian Takeaway in the Midlands. The restaurant prides itself on creating authentic Indian dishes, saying: ” To see people enjoying our food and leaving the restaurant with beaming smiles gives us the greatest pleasure.”
Other regional winners were Lal Heveli in Brandford Street, Walsall which received the Best Event Management and Catering in Midlands gong.


And the West Midlands is home to two national winners with Sohidul Islam, from Simla Indian Restaurant and Bar on Alcott Lane in Marston Green, Solihull scooping the National Chef of the Year prize. He was joined in the UK-wide winners by Pasha from Chase Terrace in Burntwood which walked away with the Best Bangladeshi Restaurant in Britain.


The Euro Asia Awards, now in their seventh year, were founded by Bangladeshi chef, Shorif Kahn. Almost 500 businesses and individuals from across the country were nominated for the prestigious awards this year. Around 50 regional and national winners were chosen and received their awards at a ceremony at Mayfair Venue, in Romford, Essex on November 15.

Hide AdAwards founder Shorif said: “The UK is home to some fantastic curry restaurants and takeaways and the awards are a way to give something back to the brilliant people behind them. 2023 has been a great year for the country’s curry industry, with business generally back to pre-pandemic levels after a few very tough years."
