Traffic and parking management plans for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham have been drawn up to accommodate the 11 days of sport hosted in the city - which are expected to attract one million visitors - from July 28 to August 8.

Transport bosses have drawn up plans which will see more than 200 road diversions and parking bans in place to accommodate the biggest event it has ever staged.

The government says the plans have been put in place to ensure the Games provides safe, efficient and reliable transport, as well as to cause minimal traffic disruption during the competition.

The Commonwealth Games run from July 28 to August 8 - with restrictions in place from July 26 to August 31.

Ahead of the Games themselves the Commonwealth Games Festival got underway in March and will carry on until September. No road restrictions were announced for the 200 events taking place across the city as part of that.
