A 41-year-old man was stabbed to death in Birmingham yesterday (Monday, June 12).

Paramedics were called to Hunters Road in Hockley around 8pm and they alerted the police. Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT Trauma Doctor and the West Midlands Care Team attended to the scene.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was in a critical condition. Ambulance staff immediately began administering specialist trauma care but sadly, despite their best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

Police said the victim’s family has been informed.

Officers remain at the scene today while forensic work is carried out, and while they speak to witnesses and examine CCTV. A blue tent has been set up on Hunters Road. A woman aged 37 was arrested on suspicion of murder a short time later, along with a man aged 43 who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Roads remain closed while police investigations continue. The road is closed between Hockley Circus and Nursery Road. West Midlands Roads said: “Road is likely to be closed until mid-afternoon.”

What has West Midlands Police said about the incident?

Det Insp Michelle Thurgood said: “We are working hard to establish exactly what happened and why, and really need to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time.

“We believe there were people in the area at the time who saw what happened but have not yet been in touch with us, and it’s vital that they call us as soon as possible.”
