The annual Moseley Folk & Arts Festival, the weekly farmers' market, some great community pubs and independent businesses have all enhance the south Birmingham neighbourhood's reputation over the years, but what do locals want to see change in the area? We paid a visit to the trendy Birmingham suburb to find out what locals think of Moseley in 2024.

Susan says: “We've lived in Moseley for almost 30 years and it's always been a lovely place to live. We like the kind of village atmosphere of the actual, you know, this part, the central part. We live about a 10 minute walk away, which is very quiet and very suburban. People seem very nice. Clearly, Moseley has problems like everywhere does.

"You know, there are people who, for no fault of their own, are homeless and have difficulties and lots more people, I think, probably are on the streets than they were in 2015. But, you know, that's not ever caused me any particular problems and yet we still love it.”

Shian said: “Moseley's a nice place to live. It's multiracial as well and I've been here now for 11 years. It has changed a lot though, mind. It's becoming more ‘up and up’. There's a lot of restaurants here and there's lots of places to go as well. They're building the new train station, which will be even better, you know. And over the last few years, I think it has changed a little bit.

"There's a lot of, how can I say, a lot of discontent people living here because of the issues with social people as well, you know, socialising and whatever. But apart from that, it's a nice place, you know. I wish if I was staying, this is the place where I would stay, but obviously I'm going back to Wales. So, you know, but apart from that, I think it's a nice area.”

Twiggy said: “It was a large bed of years ago, big, big scene, lots of live music, lots of trippy hippies, lots of strange mushrooms, fantastic. And now, the price of people at the pubs, man, I mean, the bars are too expensive. You know, if you've got loads of money, it's difficult to drink around anywhere except the Witherspoon.

"So, it's kind of gone down in that respect, but you know, the crime rate's gone down a little bit. Other than that, should have kept it like it was, in my humble opinion.”
