Police have reopened Belgrave Middleway after shutting the road earlier this morning (1 December) when a ‘suspicious item’ was found.

The road from the Belgrave Interchange towards Stratford Road was closed by police in both directions after an abandoned ‘suspicious item’ was discovered by maintenance workers.

The road was closed as a precautionary measure while the item was examined, but reopened at around 11.30am.

How did the closure affect motorists?

Roads in Sparkbrook and Belgrave Middleway were heavily congested following the closure, and a bus diversion was also in place this morning.
