Bad parking in Birmingham: Eight shocking instances ‘awful parking’ as drivers are handed fines on Soho Road

The Soho Road Police team in Birmingham say drivers are ‘putting lives at risk’ with illegal parking

Like many major cities, Birmingham has been blighted by some very bad parking over the years.

Instances of bad parking are reported each week in the city, and one area where this has particularly been a problem recently is Soho Road in Handsworth.

Concerns about illegal parking have been raised to police by locals in the area. And now, the Soho Road neighbourhood police team have provided exmaples of some of the most shocking parking across the neighbourhood so far this month (June).

During a police operation, officers issued 37 fixed penalty notices for the parking offences. Soho Road Police said the drivers said they knew they were committing offences, but carried on and did it anyway.

The local police team tweeted: “We listened to your concerns about the awful parking you’ve been suffering across the neighbourhood and we acted.

“If you see your car in our photos expect a letter in the next few days. Illegal parking has a profound effect on other road users, creating dangerous situations & putting lives at risk.”

Here are the eight photos released by the Soho Road Police team.
