A man from Tipton was due in court charged with attempted murder, violent disorder and possession of a firearm following an incident at a kabbadi match in Derby which police have described as ‘a large scale disturbance’.

Hardev Uppal, aged 33, was due at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Saturday, August 26) along with Malkeet Singh, aged 23, from Birmingham who was charged with violent disorder and possession of a firearm.

A third individual - Karamjit Singh, 35 and of Derby, appeared in court last week on charges of violent disorder and possession of a bladed article in connection with the incident at Elvaston Lane, Alvaston on Sunday, August 20. Four people were injured and taken to hospital after emergency services arrived on the scene shortly before 4pm.

In total 12 people have now been arrested in connection with the incident: seven men ged between 24 and 44 have been arrested and bailed on suspicion of violent disorder, A 33 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, violent disorder, and possession of a class A drug and has been released on bail whilst investigations continue.

And a 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and violent disorder. He has been released on bail as investigations continue.
