A man in his 20s, who was a rear seat passenger in the Focus, had sustained serious injuries and was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.

Detectives said their thoughts were with his loved ones at this devastating time.

Another passenger from the Ford was taken to hospital with serious injuries, although they are thankfully not believed to be life-threatening. Three others were not seriously injured.

The occupants of the Mitsubishi vehicle left the scene but two men presented at hospital earlier this morning and have since been arrested.

The men, aged 18 and 19, have been detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and are now in custody for questioning.

A 41-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and is also in custody.

Police believe there was at least someone else in the Mitsubishi and are appealing for them to come forward and tell officers what happened.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said; “We're keen to hear from anyone with information, and particularly anyone with dashcam footage, who can help our investigation.
