Armed robbers steal Rolex watches from two victims in Birmingham

Police investigating the robberies of two Rolex watches in Birmingham have released a suspect on bail after making an arrest earlier this summer.

West Midlands Police received two reports of robberies involving Rolex watches on two separate days in June.

The victims of one incident, Mohammed Miah and his wife Yasmin, both aged 24, were celebrating their third wedding anniversary at the Las Iguanas restaurant in Brindleyplace when the robbery happened on June 23.

Mr Miah had his £15,000 Rolex watch stolen during the incident in which he also suffered an injury to his hand.

The robbery was carried out by by three men, one armed with a knife.

As well as the incident involving Mr Miah and his wife on Wednesday, June 23, another man man was robbed a day earlier.

That incident took place on Warstone Lane, Birmingham, just before 5pm on Tuesday, June 22, where a man in his 30s was threatened by four men, including one armed with a screwdriver, before having his Rolex watch stolen.

What have police said?

Police have confirmed a man was arrested during the summer months, and is under investigation for both offences.

He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

A statement from West Midlands Police said: “A 23-year-old man was arrested on July 14 on suspicion of robbery, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and burglary.

“He has been released on bail while we carry out a more detailed investigation. He has got a curfew and can’t talk to certain people or visit certain places while on bail.”

The suspect has not been charged at this stage.
