Armed police called to Birmingham hospital after two teenagers suffer gunshot wounds

Armed police were called to City Hospital in Winson Green last night (30 December) after two teenagers were brought in with gunshot wounds.

The men, both in their late teens, were brought to the hospital by car just before 10pm.

Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening and their condition is described as ‘walking wounded’, said West Midlands police.

Armed officers were called to the scene and Aberdeen Street was temporarily closed as police tried to establish where the shots had been fired.

The force said it is now thought the shots were fired elsewhere before the men were brought to the hospital.

In a statement, West Midlands police, said: “This was an alarming incident for people at the hospital, but we would like to reassure visitors, patients and hospital workers that the hospital was not the target of this attack.

“Detectives are now speaking to the men to establish what happened.”

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact the force urgently on 101 or anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting log 3925 of 30/12.
