A second teen, aged 18, who was arrested at the time has been released on bail

A young man was charged after a loaded handgun was found on him during a stop and search by neighbourhood officers in Birmingham.

The officers approached two men Wednesday (April 12) evening on College Road in Alum Rock. A loaded handgun was recovered.

Rehan Qayum, aged 18, of Phillimore Road, Alum Rock, has been charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.

He will appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Friday 14 April.

A second teen, aged 18, who was arrested at the time has been released on bail while enquiries continue.
