From footballers and athletes, to actors, film stars and influential politicians, there are many big names who hail from the region.
With the likes of Dame Julie Walters - who has won too many awards to count - and , of course, Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, there are many iconic celebs from the city.
This week, we’ve decided to take a look at Birmingham’s reality television stars to see where they are now. Many Brummies have appeared on some of the UK’s biggest reality TV programmes, including Big Brother, Love Island and Masterchef.
And many of the stars have gone on to have big careers in new industries. So, let’s see where the reality television stars who are from Birmingham and the West Midlands are today.
1. Alison Hammond, Big Brother
Alison Hammond is known for her bubbly personality and humour. The Birmingham born presenter competed in the third series of the reality show Big Brother in 2002 and was the second housemate to be evicted. Despite her early exit from the show she has gone on to present ITV’s This Morning and co-present the Great British Bake Off. She is thought to now be worth between £1 and £4million
2. Emilia Arata, Big Brother
Emilia Arata was the runner-up of Big Brother in 2008. She appeared on the show with her brother, Victor. They are from Birmingham. She and her brother Victor have performed in front of the likes of The Prince of Wales and The Princess Royal. They also took part in Graham Norton’s BBC One talent show When Will I Be Famous? in 2007 where they went on to win. In 2017, Emilia and Billy appeared on the 12th season of America’s Got Talent.
3. PJ Ellis
Alison Hammond starred in the third season of Big Brother in 2002 with fellow Brummie PJ Ellis, pictured above (top row centre - third in). Following the show, Ellis went on to study law in Birmingham, before practicing as a solicitor for a number of years. He then set up the social media agency Blake7 and founded the charity LoveBrum in 2014. Having helped raise over £750k for charity, he received a Points of Light award from the Prime Minister, which recognises outstanding UK volunteers in their community.
4. Hussain Ahmed, Big Brother
Hussain appeared on Big Brother in 2018. He grew up in Birmingham. He came in 10th place. Hussain grew up in Birmingham but now lives in Manchester. He works as a Physiotherapist and now lives in Manchester
