Man dies after being hit by lorry in Aldridge - West Midlands Police statement in full

A man has died after being hit by a lorry in Aldridge on Tuesday morning (25 October).

It happened near the junction of Northgate and Walsall Wood Road at just before 10.30am. The man, in his 60s, received treatmeant at the scene but could not be saved. Despite the efforts of emergency services the man, aged in his 60s, could not be saved.

A statement from West Midlands Police, read: “A man has died after a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian near the junction of Walsall Wood Road and Northgate in Aldridge. Two ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene after a call at 10.24am. On arrival, crews found a man who had suffered very serious injuries.

“Sadly it was immediately obvious that nothing could be to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene. The lorry driver was shaken but unhurt.”

A statement from West Midlands Police, dded: “Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this traumatic time and we’ll be doing all we can to support them. We’re still in the early stages of our enquiries to establish exactly what happened. We’ve spoken with the driver who is assisting our investigation.

“We’d ask for anyone who was in the area at the time, and may have dash cam footage, to get in touch. You can contact us via Live Chat on the West Midlands Police website and quote log 1238 of 25/10/22.”
