Aldi is set to open a brand new store in Stirchley, Birmingham - and there will be a special guest on hand to cut the red ribbon.

The latest store, one of 16 new Aldi stores that the budget retail said it was opening across the country before the end of the year, is being run by local people headed up by store manager Karia Gilbert - and they are looking for 15 more store assistants to join the team.

The new store will open on November 24 (Thursday) at 8am when Olympic hockey hero Sarah Jones will cut the red ribbon - give away complimentary bags of fresh fruit and vegetables from Aldi’s famous Super 6 range to the first 30 customers in the queue.

What’s on offer at the new Aldi store in Stirchley?

The store will offer Aldi’s high quality, low-price products, like fresh British meat products with weekly offers, their award-winning ‘Specially Selected’ range, exclusive Beers, Wines and Spirits, and a ‘Food to Go’ section at the front of the store.

Aldi’s Specialbuys will also be available in the middle aisle every Thursday and Sunday, offering extraordinary value on a wide range of products, from electrical items to garden tools.

Consumer group Which? recently confirmed Aldi as the UK’s cheapest grocer on a basket of 48 everyday items with a price difference of £11.78 against Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s, making them on average 16% more expensive.

How is Aldi helping the local community and how can I find out more about the store assistant jobs?

The new Aldi store is calling on local charities and food banks in Stirchley to register with Neighbourly, a community engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations in the local community.

Local charities that register will be able to collect surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods, up to seven days a week. Any charities in the area that would like to partner up with the new Aldi store can email [email protected].
