86 properties near Birmingham cricket ground remain without power after overnight outage

The outage is near Midlands Arts Centre and Edgbaston Cricket Ground.

Eighty-six homes in Birmingham are currently without power after an outage was reported just after midnight.

National Grid say engineers had to “temporarily switch off power” in the B5 7SE and B5 7SF postcode areas, near the Midlands Arts Centre and Edgbaston Cricket Ground, for “safety reasons” after an incident was reported at around 12.15am this morning (August 31).

A spokesperson for National Grid said: “We know you're without power. We were alerted at 12:15am this morning and our engineers are working to get your electricity back on as quickly as possible. We're sorry for the disruption.

“We give you our best estimate for when your power will be back on, based on what we know at the time. Times might change if we face unexpected challenges getting to the fault. These times show when the last person in the area will have power back - most of you will be reconnected before this.

“We'll update this page regularly with our progress.”
