After travelling around the world, the Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay has finally arrived in the West Midlands as it ventured through Solihull on Tuesday (26 July).
Thousands of people around the world have welcomed The Queen’s Baton Relay on its way through countries including Pakistan, The Bahamas, New Zealand and Sierra Leone. The Baton arrived in the region at the weekend and carried around Wolverhampton, Dudley and Walsall, and Sandwell on Monday before travelling through Solihull today.
Many residents lined the streets of the town to catch a glimpse of the Baton as it made its way through past Solihull Sports Centre, Hampton-in-Arden Sports Club, Catherine De Barnes, Chelmsley Wood, Marston Green, Meriden, Balsall Common, Knowle, Dickens Heath, Shirle, Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel, and the town centre.
Numerous road closures were in place to allow the batonbearers to safely pass the baton through the towns, with community events taking place as well.
