Fire crews are currently battling a major blaze at the Bingley Hall wedding venue in Hockley.

14 Fire Engines, four Brigade Response Vehicles, a Hydraulic Platform and over 90 crew members were called to tackle the severe fire in Hockley Circus on Wednesday night (14 September).

Whitmore Street is currently closed and other roads are affected. The fire service is urging people to avoid the area while they deal with the incident this evening.

Operations were scaled down throughout the night as crews dealt with the fire, although 35 members remain on site this morning.

A statement from West Midlands Roads, read: “Whitmore Street Hockley. A fire has broken out on this route in the region around The New Bingley Hall Emergency services are on scene Allow extra time for your journey and consider using alternative routes.”
