A boy aged 14 has been charged with the murder of Ian Kirwan outside Asda in Redditch.

The youth has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court today (Friday March 11).

The charge relates to an incident on Jinnah Road on Tuesday 8 March that led to the death of Mr Kirwan, aged 53, from Redditch.

Formal identification has yet to take place but Ian’s family agreed to publish his name.

West Mercia Police added that a further three youths were arrested in connection with the incident yesterday - bringing the total arrested to 11.

Three youths, including the 14-year-old charged with murder, remain in custody.

One youth has been released on bail.

Seven youths have been released with no further action.

Redditch Asda has now reopened and Safer Neighbourhood Officers are maintaining a highly visible presence in the town.
