As the countdown towards Christmas continues, what better way to start feeling the spirit than the sights, sounds and smells of Birmingham’s Christmas Markets which have become an important part of the city’s tapestry over the years.

There’s plenty to enjoy at the German Christmas Market around Victoria Square - and now the festive season has spread to to Colmore Business District and Birmingham Cathedral Square.

Matt said: “We’re really delighted to be offering this partnership with Colmore Bid, with DANTA, to provide the market here in Cathedral Square. We see it as a way of extending our hospitality and welcome to the people of Birmingham.

“It’s also great to be offering this opportunity for local traders who have had a tough year after the pandemic as we all know. So to give them an opportunity to work here over the next month, and to serve the people of Birmingham, is a great opportunity too.”

Jonathan, from Dudley, said: “It’s nice to see a Christmas market that’s full of local stalls. It is nice to see a German market, but to see a British market is really nice. All local merchandise, all local beer and that. It’s exciting.”

‘We’re celebrating everything that is Birmingham’

Katie Paddock, Special Projects Executive for Colmore Business District said: “Christmas in Cathedral Square is really important to Birmingham. It’s the missing piece to the Birmingham Christmas offering. It celebrates everything that is Birmingham, all of our traders are from Birmingham, and it’s just great to be back out and supporting the city.”
