A man was left seriously injured in a hit and run incident in Birmingham City Centre.

A man in his 30s was hit by a car on Islington Row shortly after 3am today (November 13). He is currently in a critical condition in hospital.

West Midlands Police are appealing for information about the incident. They are also carrying out enquiries in the area and are keen for anyone who can assist the investigation to come forward.

“If you were in the vicinity at the time, have dash cam footage, or heard any information since you could help us establish what happened. We’d also urge the driver to do the right thing and explain to us exactly what went on,” the police said.

There were almost 7,000 hit and run cases in West Midlands between 2019 to 2022. As many as 6,947 hit and run cases were recorded, according to a Freedom of Information request that was made public. Of those, 28 were fatal during that time and 188 were very serious.
