Three young boys have died and another is fighting for his life after falling through ice at local beauty spot Babbs Mill Lake in Kingshurst, Solihull.

The tragedy has touched people across the world as the heroic battle to save the boys got underway yesterday afternoon. The local community has gathered to pay tribute to the young lives of the boys who died aged eight, 10 and 11 after being pulled from the water.

Earlier today (Monday, December 14), Superintendent Richard Harris from West Midlands Police provided an update on the condition of the six-year-old at a press conference.

Mr Harris said: “The other boy at the moment is still very poorly and we will keep you advised on his condition as it becomes clear to ourselves.

“The families, as you can imagine, are absolutely devastated. Also, at this time of year, it is on the run up to Christmas and so close to the event itself, also adds to that tragedy. We are doing our very best to support the families.

“I am sure you will understand that we are led by the families’ wishes as to how much information we can give out at the moment.”A fourth boy, aged six, continues to fight for his life in hospital after being treated at Heartlands and Birmingham Children’s. Emergency services were alerted to the incident when people posted on social media and videos showed the boys in trouble.
