There are plenty of brilliant winter walks in and around Birmingham to enjoy in the coming months.
If you fancy a winter walk on Christmas Day or Boxing Day, there are plenty of great routes in and around Birmingham.
The West Midlands offers so much throughout the year, and some parts of the region really thrive in the colder weather.
So we’ve decided to share a few tips on how to make the most out of this time of year - especially if you are wanting to head out the house over the Christmas period!

5. City centre canal route

It would take you through some of the landmarks in the city like Cambrian Wharf, National SEA LIFE Centre, Utilita Arena, Brewmaster’s Bridge, and more.

6. Sutton Park
Sutton Park is the biggest park in Birmingham and one of the biggest urban parks in Europe and its massive size offers heathland, woodland, and wetland, as well as both marshes and seven separate lakes. It is a 2,400 acres National Nature Reserve located 6 miles north of the city centre. It is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Scheduled Ancient Monument. 7. Lickey Hills Country Park
Just a short drive from the city, Lickey Hills Country Park offers elevated views away from city lights, making it a great spot for stargazing. The park has a variety of habitats, including woodlands, heathland, and grassland, and offers expansive views of the countryside. 8. Handsworth Park
It might be a surprising choice but it has numerous lakes and massive open spaces to walk and play in. It has over 63 acres of landscaped grass slopes, with flower beds, mature trees, shrubs, and plenty of wildlife. You can go boating here since it has a boating lake, with rowing boats available to hire. There are two play areas for children. Founded in 1888, it used to be called Victoria Park earlier and is now a home to a multicultural festivities like Vaisakhi. | BW
