National Highways has given an update on the road works being carried out on junction 10 of the M6 in the Wolverhampton area. The works are likely to cause disruptions for drivers to and from Birmingham.

The M6 junction 10 improvements have been going on since January 2020 and continue to congest roads which will affect the local communities and businesses. The cost of the improvements is £78million according to the National Highways website.

The National Highways website reads: “M6 junction 10 congestion affects the local community and businesses, particularly during morning and evening peak times. The improvements will ease congestion and reduce journey times for the thousands of drivers who use it every day.”

Latest M6 junction 10 update

The latest M6 junction 10 updates include upcoming road closures from Wednesday, May 31, 2023. A statement on the National Highways website reads: “We’re continuing our work around the M6 junction 10 roundabout and some of the connecting roads, including reinstating the road surface on the dedicated left turn slip road from the A454 Wolverhampton Road westbound into Tempus Drive.

“This involves filling the trench that was required to allow Openreach to carry out some essential work for our scheme, and repairing the kerbs and pedestrian crossing before the road can be reopened. We expect this work to be completed by Sunday 11 June and thank you for your patience.

“We’re sorry for the disruption this work may cause to your journey and encourage drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time when travelling. We’ll aim to reopen the roads sooner if we complete our work earlier than expected.
