The last 20 years have seen daily life for Birmingham change drastically - from advances in technology, to massive changes in the urban environment - we wanted to look back at how different the city really is.
Culturally, 2004 was a year that saw the birth of social media with the official launch of Facebook, with Tony Blair and the Labour Party in power.
In Birmingham, the Bullring was thriving after its 2003 revamp, and in terms of football, it was a year in which both Villa and Blues were competing with each other in the Premier League.
