For sale: Is this the cheapest house in Birmingham? Up for auction for £20,000

The average price of a home in Birmingham is almost £288,000. Property aggregator Rightmove’s House Price Index for October 2022 shows that in West Midlands average home prices increased 0.4% from last month and it had an increase of 9.8% year on year.

But this two bedroom back-to-back property in Kings Norton, in south Birmingham is up for sale for just £20,000 +. The final price of the house is likely to be higher based on bids and will include fees.

Yet, it seems like a steal at this price. The two-bedroomed, mid-terraced house with gardens at 1/26 Station Road has a reception room and kitchen downstairs. The bedrooms and a bathroom are upstairs. The house also has gas central heating and double glazing. However, it needs modernisation.

Station Road in Kings Norton is a stone’s throw away from the train station. It is also well connected to the rest of Birmingham via buses. The house is located at a walking distance from shops in Cotteridge and from the Kings Norton Green - which goes as far back as the Anglo-Saxon times, featuring landmarks like Saint Nicolas’ Church, an old Grammar School and former Tudor house. Farmers markets are held there each month.

This Birmingham property just one of 158 lots due to appear in Bond Wolfe’s next auction which is due to start at 9.30am on Thursday 27 October. The auction will be livestreamed via Bond Wolfe’s website with remote bidding by proxy, telephone or internet.
