Watch: A top pizza chef in Birmingham shows us how to make the perfect Napoletana pizza
Britain celebrated National Pizza Day earlier this week (on Thursday, February 9) - and it was a tasty opportunity for the country to come together and appreciate their love for the popular cheesy pie. I went along to Rudy's Pizza Napoletana in Brindleyplace to find out what exactly goes into making the perfect pizza.
The venue has recently opened on Monday February 6 in the site on Oozells Street, formerly occupied by Italian restaurant Cielo. It’s the second Birmingham City Centre site for Rudy’s which also has a restaurant on Bennett’s Hill.

Hide AdBirmingham is a city full of pizza lovers so we also asked Brummies what their favourite toppings are - and got some great responses.
Anna gave pineapple as her favourite topping - a controversial choice! While Anton went with a more traditional choice of anchovies. Lee’s pizza of choice is a mix of prawns - which he calls the chicken of the sea, chicken tikka and meatballs. Despite not being a vegetarian, Emma’s preference is vegetables on her pizza, while also confirming that pineapples do belong on pizza.
