The Commonwealth Games in Birmingham have come to an end with a star studded display at the closing ceremony.

The ceremony brought to an end 11 days of sport, which saw hundreds of medals won across dozens of sports.

A highlight of the closing ceremony was an appearance from rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, who was amongst several famous faces from in and around Birmingham.

Who did Ozzy Osbourne perform with?

Ozzy Osbourne was joined on stage at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham by other members of Black Sabbath.

Guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Tommy Clufetos and bassist Adam Wakeman all joined Ozzy for what was a memorable hometown performance.

"I love you, Birmingham - it’s good to be back," Ozzy screamed out to the Birmingham crowd on what was his first live performance in several years due to ill health.

The appearance of original Black Sabbath members at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games was a surprise rarity, as the legendary band are no longer together.

Black Sabbath split in March 2017 and despite rumours of a possible reunion, it looks as though we’ve officially seen the last of the iconic metal band.

Numerous other famous musicians from Birmingham also performed at the closing ceremony.

Dexys Midnight Runners, Apache Indian, Musical Youth, UB40 and Panjabi MC entertained the crowd with classic hits amid a parade featuring hundreds of athletes who competed during the 11-day Games.

Chief Creative Officer of Birmingham 2022 Martin Green CBE, said: “It’s been overwhelming to see how the whole of the UK has embraced these Games and the incredible sporting and cultural talent on display.

“From the love for our Bull, to the thousands down at our festival sites, this has been a summer like no other, in one of the best cities in the land.

Who was behind the Birmingham 2022 Closing Ceremony?

Masterminded once more by Creative Directors TAWBOX who organised the opening ceremony, the Birmingham 2022 Closing Ceremony presented an opportunity to celebrate diversity, champion equality and unite people across the world.

Pre-set in 1950’s post war Birmingham, Misty Buckley’s iconic set design and TAWBOX’s notable cinematic music and choreography style explored the real stories from real people who together made the city the thriving post-industrial heart of the UK.
